Chinook Middle Level Leadership Camp

A four-day experience that lasts a lifetime

Students arrive energetic or nervous and leave confident and inspired!

Camp Chinook is a dynamic 4-day immersion experience perfect for middle school-age students entering grades 6-9, with a separate advisor strand ideal for both new and veteran advisors.  This highly structured, inclusive experience encourages students to maximize their potential and prepare for the upcoming hard work in their student leadership program.

Learned skills:

  • Teamwork

  • Problem solving

  • Decision making

  • Community-building

  • Empathy

  • ASB officer training

  • Performance essentials: stage presence, microphone, props, off-stage voices, audience participation

Staff:

The Teacher Counselors (TCs) are highly-experienced adults from the education and student leadership fields.  Our Resident Counselors (RCs) work with the students in the dorms and team sessions.  These enthusiastic, compassionate people range from high school juniors to college-aged youth.  Most of our RCs eagerly return every year.

Advisor Strand:

For veterans at the beginning of their student leadership or ASB advisor journey, this additional strand of the middle-level leadership camp is a must! In this separate, yet included part of Camp Chinook, witness the growth and capability of middle school student leaders.  There are multiple opportunities to meet with students you might bring to camp; however, the majority of the time is spent learning what YOU want to learn and sharing ideas.  Our advisor strand is run by two veteran leadership and ASB advisors – teachers who have run programs with and without leadership classes who are eager to share ideas and build your confidence and knowledge.  Our advisor strand also hosts an ASB Law session as well!  Network with others, be inspired in the mountains, connect with your student leaders, leave with confidence and energy for your best year yet!
