Middle-Level Team Retreat 2024

Retreat Info:

Each school that attends the Team Retreat comes with unique goals and expectations. Some schools come committed to plan a specific project. Other schools utilize the time to blend incoming students into their leadership program. Still others use the experience to train and unite their elected student officers. The leadership training is designed to increase a school's teamwork skills and explore relevant leadership concepts:

  • Leadership 101

  • School culture and climate

  • Personal growth

  • Collaborative leadership

  • Connection and Networking

Additionally, time is spent exploring how the work of student leaders are connected to school success through the AWSP Leadership Framework criteria: create a culture, engage the community, close the gap, ensure safety and plan with data.

Students and their advisers also have a chance to network, share ideas and create action plans for the school year. Staff members from summer leadership camps facilitate the retreat. High school and college-age student leaders are the Resident Counselors (RCs) for the retreat. The RCs serve as positive roles models, supervise the student dorms and help facilitate retreat activities.
