Western Leaders Summit

Bringing together student leaders from across the western United States

The Western Leaders Summit is a multi-state leadership camp experience, hosted by AWSL at the Chewelah Peak Learning Center. Student delegations from the western states of Alaska, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington are immersed in a challenging student leadership curriculum while also sharing knowledge from each state's leadership program.

The Western Leaders Summit is an engaging, outdoor camp experience where students develop leadership skills and network with leaders from other states. Students gain skills including:

  • Goal setting
  • Organization techniques
  • Communication
  • Group process
  • Human relations

Washington’s delegation is composed of elected or appointed student leaders who serve as outstanding representatives from their schools. Priority will be given to students who are recommended by their school, members of the upcoming junior and senior classes, current representatives on the AWSL Student Steering Committee and members of the AWSL Conference planning committee. The Western Leaders Summit is held at the Chewelah Peak Learning Center in Chewelah, Washington, about one hour north of Spokane.
