Fall Leadership Days
In October and November, the Association of Washington Student Leaders organizes one-day Leadership events in various areas across the state. These Leadership Day events are a more local and less elaborate complement to the springtime Middle Level Regionals, and give students a chance to learn leadership skills while connecting with students from other schools in the area. Registration for Fall Leadership Days are per student, and cover all materials and a mid-morning snack.
Blue Mountain Regional Leadership Day
With its geographic isolation and low population, the Blue Mountains and Palouse regions of Southeast Washington are often underserved by statewide programs. The Association of Washington Student Leaders has a goal of focusing on underserved populations, and has taken steps to make summer leadership camps more accessible, as well as offering targeted programs at the region. As part of that effort, AWSL has begun offering a special Fall Leadership Day in the Blue Mountains region each year. The Blue Mountains Regional is structured differently than other Fall Leadership Days, in that it targets the curriculum to both Middle Level and High School Leaders, using the latter as "near-peer" role models in bringing about a continuum of leadership across grade levels to the small, rural schools in the Blue Mountains and Palouse regions. Registration is by school, with delegations of 20-30 Middle School and High School students recommended at an approximate 2:1 ratio.
